Controlling Acrobat 9's starting page side view

Acrobat 9 Pro

Is there some magic incantation within Acrobat 9 to actually invoke a "real" facing pages view?

In FM's facing pages view the document is correctly displayed, i.e. the first page is a right page.

But a PDF from this file displays differently in Acro7 vs Acro9.

In Acro 7, the "continuous facing" view displays the PDF as expected, with the first page being a right side page.

But when the PDF is viewed within Acro 9 in "two-up" view, the first page is always a left-side page. I can't for the life of me see any way to tell it that the pages are facing.

The Acro9 help file says:
"Note: If a document has more than two pages, the Two-Up and Two-Up Continuous views display the first page alone on the right side of the document pane, to ensure proper display of two-page spreads."

Acro9 Reader also will not display the starting side correctly.

Can anybody else confirm this Acro9 issue?
