Mathtype 6.5,. Frame and Acrobat

I just installed Mathtype 6.5 with Frame 8.0 patch 277, Acrobat 9 on
Windows XP SP3. I had Mathtype set to use Times LT Std for the font. I
saved several eps with tiff previews and imported by reference.. When
saving to pdf, the Mathtype graphics showed boxed x's where there should
have been a nice equation.

Switched to WMF preview and no preview---no luck.

Switched to WMF (not eps with WMF preview)---even worse.

The only thing that worked (I didn't do gif since it wouldn't preserve
the quality) was copy and paste as an OLE. GAHHHH. Everything I've tried
not to do since Frame 3.2 on a Mac and MT (I forget which version).

Is this due to MT not handling PS OT flavors or something more sinister.
When I get time to check more, I'll report back.
