shortcut for FM 10

Strange: can't understand why I've not got round to asking this earlier :-}

Special > Variables obediently opens the Variables tab, but apart from reaching for the mouse and selecting one of the Close options from the context menu how do I then get rid of it and reclaim valuable screen real estate?

And while I'm asking, I don't suppose there's a handy F-key that accesses variables the way F8 and F9 access character and paragraph styles? or some other shortcut?
