We are using FrameMaker 2019 and are looking to publish our next document. While the publishing is faster and somewhat easier, I'm getting unwanted Dita labels in my output, mainly the Context and Result labels that are associated with Dita tasks. I understand I may need to remove these from my FM template files - is this correct? Can I turn off just Context or Result, or both? And how would I go about removing these labels? Many thanks!

I cannot "Save as pdf" with FM 2015. Solutions to this problem?
Since yesterday I cannot generate pdf using "Save as PDF.."
Iv'e tried different .fm an .book files. Individual .fm files work fine but saving book files as pdf FM crashes.
While Distiller does run, it aborts after a few hundred pages and the only output is a large tps file.
I tried troubleshooting the tps file according to Troubleshoot PostScript errors but the PostScript error is "%%[Error: ; OffendingCommand: ]%% , i.e. nothing to go on.
Does anyone know why this can be happening? or how to use the find the problem in the tps file?

Corrected unresolved cross ref. and replaced fonts don't save
I am updating a book with 15 files from Frame 5.0 to 2019 and have gotten all but 3 files transferred/migrated over.
After opening up my old files with FM 2019, I saved each one as a MIF file and then re-saved as .fm (2019) file. I then deleted the original files from the directory. I updated the file names in the book to reflect their new .fm end. I opened all 15 files and "resolved" unresolved cross references. In each file I had a several unavailable fonts that I mapped to available fonts via the font pod. I saved each file and the closed all the files and the book.
When I open all the files 3 files still give a message about unavailable fonts and 1 file also says unresolved cross references. The Cross-reference pod shows several files have unresolved cross references and on these files I use "Edit => Update References" to them. I save the files and thenclose the files. Upon reopening the files I get the same messages. I've repeated this many times with the same result (think Ground Hog day). When I have all the files open and all cross references resolved, I use the font pod to change the unavailable font "Times" to "Times New Roman". (All the other unavailable fonts I changed stay changed.) The font pod then shows Times no longer as present. As soon as I save the file, the font pod lists "TImes" as unavailable.

How can I create an RGB PDF in FrameMaker 2019?
In FM 2017 there was an option to choose RGB or CMYK in the PDF Settings. I can't find this setting in FM 2019 and my documents appear to be output as CMYK as the colours no longer look correct. The same file output as PDF from FM2017 with the option set to RGB looks correct in terms of the colour space.

FrameMaker 10 can't be activated without Internet access
The company for which I work recently bought a number of FrameMaker 10 licences. Several days after installing it, a message began to appear when FrameMaker was launched: "Unable to activate Adobe FrameMaker 10". The message goes on to say that product activation is required, we must connect to the internet to activate it, and we have 23 days to activate the product before it becomes disabled.
The problem is, the PCs on which it's installed are connected to a defence classified network which is not connected to the internet and cannot be under any circumstances. Removing the PCs from the network and connecting them to the internet is not an option, given our security requirements.
One of our technical support people contacted Adobe to find a way around this, and was told that if we won't connect to the internet we can't use the product.
This seems extraordinary. Many defence contractors must be using FrameMaker, and many will have the same security requirements as us. And the latest releases of FrameMaker have S1000D support -- an odd thing to include if Adobe wants to stop selling products to defence contractors, as appears to be the case.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Has anyone found a solution?

I can't get FM 2019 to license
My IT department installed FM 2019 but it will not license. I have tried several different locations with different internet access to see if our servers were blocking some thing but still nope.

Auto-numbered figures in the Side Head
My A flow uses a side head column to add white space to the left. Text and figures display in the main column on the right. However, some of my images are vertical and narrow, so they would be well-suited for placing in the side head section. I can place them there easy enough, but I run into problems when I try to put the figure's caption beneath it in the side head. Text wants to flow from the main A column, to the caption's text frame, and back again to the main frame. This is bad for a number of reasons.
Is there a best practice for doing this? One that accommodates auto-numbering?

Are there any applications that can import unstructured Frame binary files?
One of the participants on the Frameusers list is asking if there are any applications that can import a FrameMaker binary file for the purpose of editing it. The company is a large financial company with tight network security and industry and legal regulations controlling access and authorization. For obvious reasons, the company doesn't want to have programs on its network that have to "call home" for authentication.
Unfortunately, they've been unable to get either his previous version of Frame (11) to work or to get the most recent version (2019) to work, but I am unclear as to why they haven't been able to.
They are no longer using Frame at his place of business, so all new work is in a different application. However, he still needs to be able to update old files and convert them into the new format.
I am unaware of any application that can import .fm files, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. I'm hoping someone here either knows of one or can help provide him with a way to get either his old or new version of Frame working without the need of an internet connection to authenticate it.

Frame 2019 new install won't launch
I installed TCS 2019 yesterday. Captivate, RoboHelp, Acrobat all launch successfully. However, FrameMaker fails to launch and I get a FrameMaker.exe - Application Error message stating "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000013). Click OK to close the application." Has anyone seen this before and found a solution?
I'm running Windows 7 SP1 on an i7 laptop, 16 GB of RAM, 200+ GB of disk space available. I've checked Java to make sure I'm running JRE 8; I am.
I have not removed TCS 2015 and don't want to until I know I can run the new version.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the FrameMaker component of TCS 2019 several times with no success.

Regular expression for uppercasing not working
Dear all!
I have no success in changing the case of found items with Find/Replace using Regular expression in FrameMaker 14.0.3.500.
I want change lower case characters after n-dash followed by blank b< the upper case equivalent:
Assume no change in maker.ini, hence RegularExpressionSyntax=Perl
Find: – ([a-z])
Replace: – \U$1 or – \u$1 or – \p{Lu}$1
Consider case: on or off
=> None of the replacements does the job!
Then I have tried various things with RegularExpressionSyntax=egrep or grep.
No success either.

Wie kann ich den Distiller installieren?
Hallo
Ein Kollege hat einen neuen Laptop mit Windows 10 bekommen. Zum üben habe ich dort eine alte Version von FrameMaker (7.2) installiert. Ging auch recht gut. Nun haben wir für den Kollegen eine neue FrameMaker Version gekauft, die auch super läuft, leider braucht der Kollege auch den Distiller und der wird sang- und klanglos nicht mit installiert. Ich habe das alte FrameMaker inklusive des alten Distillers vollständig deinstalliert und auch schon mal den CCleaner drüber laufen lassen. Geht leider nicht. Auf den exakt gleichen Rechnern, wo vorher nur kein FM7 installiert war, geht es ohne Probleme. Vermutlich hat FM7 etwas in der Registry zurückgelassen, aber ich konnte nicht ergooglen, was. Hier hin ging meine beste Spur: http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/3099e.htm leider gibt es die Seite nicht mehr
Hat jemand eine Idee wie ich den neuen Distiller installieren kann?

FM2017 (Unstructured): Conditional tags always visible when publishing HTML5
Hi everyone,
I'm having a problem with conditional text in HTML5 output from (non-structured) FM 2017.
I'm using conditional text quite effectively to produce PDFs (File > Save as PDF). The output is always based on the visible text in the editor, as I would expect. As I change visibility of conditional tags, the content changes correctly, and the output includes only what I can see.
However, when I try the same approach to produce HTML (File > Publish > Responsive HTML5 > Generate Selected Output) using a configured STS file, all text from all conditional tags is always included. Obviously, this is not what I want. Adjusting the selected conditional tags and visibilities in the current book makes no difference. I tried this against the book file and the individual FM files.
So, I did some investigation yesterday, and read this thread: FM12: Conditional text and Publish to Microsoft HTML Help
This seemed to indicate that there was an issue with the STS file I am using.
To pursue this, I created a "New" STS file from the Publish pod, and tried again. And the conditional text worked perfectly! This was good news, but left me with a problem, as I can't use the new STS file; our formatting requires the use of our current STS file.
I tried re-saving our current STS file from the Publish pod when all conditional settings were correct. This did NOT work.
So, while I agree that it seems to be an issue with my STS file, I am unclear what I can do about it.
As I understand it, the STS file is a zip of "all configuration files", but after digging through extracted zip files, I can't see where any conditional settings are stored in the STS. Am I missing something here?
So, I guess my question is: How can I change the STS file so that only the required conditional tags are included in the HTML5 output. Ideally, so that it uses the current visibilities onscreen (as the "new" STS file does). However, I'm open to something more prescriptive. Or to be told I'm going about this all wrong!
I'm working with FM 2017 Release - Version: 14.0.4.511, all updates included. I'm not using Dynamic Content Filters.

Arrange Documents icon/options are missing from FrameMaker 2017 ( version 14.0.4.511 )
The Arrange Documents menu/icon is not available in FrameMaker 2017 (version 14.0.4.511)
If I only have two files open,then I can use Windows Tile to see two documents side by side.
If more than two files are open, it tiles all of them.
In FM 2015 I could get that view when there were more than two files open by using the Arrange Documents menu.
It seems that the workaround in FM 2017 is to only open two files, select Tile, then continue to open the rest of
the files manually so they are separated between the two windows.

Arrow without background colour?
Good Afternoon.
I am running FM 2015 and wish to insert an arrow on an image similar to those
below but no matter what format I use I cannot get rid of the white background.
This is something I can do in MS Word (sorry) but most of my work is now in FM. Please can you advise me if it is possible? I removed the background colour from the
arrow using Photoshop.
Your assistance would be appreciated.

My "Figure Title" numbering is starting itself over all of the sudden... can't figure out why!
All of the sudden in a document I'm writing, my Figure Titles have started back at 1 (1-1, 1-2, 1-3, etc and then back to 1-1).
Here's a screenshot -- I'm using Text Boxes to overlay the titles with a Paragraph Style applied to the text in each box.
It was all working fine until I got to the end of a page that for some reason needed me to add a disconnected page and then connect it to the previous page.
What am I doing wrong here? I checked my Paragraph Designer and the equation looks solid.
I'm guessing this has something to do with a text frame being disconnected somehow, but I can't determine which.

Image prints tiny in PDF
How can I prevent this from happening?
I exported an image from Adobe Illustrator to PNG. Then I imported it by reference into Frame. Then I saved it as PDF, then I printed it.
On paper the image is printed about the size of postage stamp. In FrameMaker, the image is 672 pt high...about the entire height of the page.

Why do green paragraph tags become tick marks when converted to PDF?
I'm using Frame 2017 unstructured and have noticed tick marks (faint periods) in some of my table cells after converting to PDF. It turns out that those marks are green paragraph tags in FrameMaker. How can I get rid of green paragraph marks - turn them black?
