FYI, you cannot create an expression for use with Filter by Attribute unless the document contains an instance of each attribute mentioned. In particular, you cannot store such expressions in a template unless the template contains elements with the necessary attributes. If you want to provide users with an empty template and predefined attribute expressions, you can give them empty body pages, and put elements with the needed attributes on a reference page.

system states the files are locked. have restarted system, still no open files i created.
I use framemaker 10 dita 1.2.
My customer asked me to set some images to "run into paragraph".
I know there are only two choices in the "placement" attribute drop box: inline and break.
So i added "value "runin" is fm property value run into paragraph" to the rule txt file as below:

"runin" will generate an error log saying that there is a syntax error near identifier runin.

Very new to FrameMaker. I’m trying to publish a ditamap in Responsive HTML5 in FM 2015. When I do, the TOC is numbered (see image). The numbers don’t appear in a PDF file. Does anyone know how I can turn off this option? I can’t find it in the settings. I feel like there should be a simple solution.

I have been trying to help my co-worker fix the below distiller error unsuccessfully for the past day. When printing a pdf with tags and bookmarks, the pdf file gives an error in NotePad and the pdf fails to print. I've searched some forums and have found other people with similar issues, but no answer as to how to fix this.
The really strange part is that I can print the pdf just fine from my computer, but my co-worker cannot print the same book file to pdf without the error. I would just print the file for her, but there are several similar ones to print and they all produce the same error in the same spot.
I'm guessing there must be some setting that is different on my computer from hers, although I can't find anything set different in FrameMaker.
If anyone has any suggestions or knows how to fix, that would be awesome!

Howdy:
I'm using Frame 9 and Acrobat 9 Pro on 64-bit Windows 7, and encountering what appears to be a bug.
When I initially open Frame and attempt to Save As PDF, I get the following error message:
"When you create a PostScript file you must rely on system fonts and use document fonts. Please go to the printer properties, "Adobe PDF Settings" page and turn OFF the option "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts."
The problem: that setting isn't turned /on/, either in Frame or in the Adobe PDF printing preferences. So Frame is basically telling me to turn off a setting that isn't actually turned on in the first place.
This problem has persisted through a complete reinstallation of both Frame and Acrobat. The only way to get it to stop happening is by /activating/ the "Rely on system fonts only" setting, applying that setting, then going back in and deactivating it. Even then, the situation crops up as soon as I exit Frame and restart it.

I am trying to print to PDF a publication that is full of oversize wiring diagrams. The pages are all images ranging in size from standard A3 and A4 siz sheets through to a foldout being 1470 mm W X 297 mm H. We have no problem printing A3, A4 and 630 mm W X 297 H. These are all Portrait images. When we set up our custom print size to accomodate the 1470 mm W X 297 mm H we get the pages without the content, and even some of the oversize pages are not the correct size on print.

1. Print to PDF (Do not Save to PDF, you do not have control over paper sizes) Under Print Setup make sure you select PDF Driver and select the Paper size as largest that is in your book. Example: If A4 and A3 pages, print to A3 2. Select Generate Acrobat Data and select Note: Back in FM Print dialogue; make sure Print to File is turned OFF, before you click Print Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The alphabetic sort order differs slightly for other languages then the English one. I rewrite the alphabetics in the special text flow of the Reference Page of the index file, regenerate the index file, but the result is wrong. The special Group Title characters for greek, hungarian, czech, russian etc. languages are combined among latin Group Title characters.
We work in FM 8 to create 3000 pages technical documentation in 14 languages. The output will be pdf file and help system. Our main problem now the index Group Titles sort order. Could you help me to solve this problem?

Over the years I have had insurmountable problems with FrameMaker version 5.5.6, 7, and 8 freezing exactly 60 minutes after FrameMaker startup on certain machines, including Dell, Lenovo and Asus hardware, and Windows XP and Windows 7 operating systems. At the 60 minute mark exactly, the FrameMaker process hammers the CPU up to 50% and stays there, and the program is then frozen ( " not responding " ). The rest of the system is still functioning. I (and several system administrators) have spent many days trying everything in the book, to no avail. I never found the source of the problem; I gave up and avoided it by using random Windows machines that don't exhibit the problem, and by using FrameMaker on Solaris. I am working at home now (actually, *trying* to work at home); I can no longer avoid the problem, and the lock-ups make FrameMaker practically unusable.
Although I appreciate any suggestions, each one takes 60 minutes to test (obviously) and I have tried so many that I feel like I can't try any more of them without some kind of a lead. To that end, I have a direct question to the Adobe FrameMaker programmers:
WHAT IS FRAMEMAKER DOING AT THE 60 MINUTE MARK?
I've been trying to test this combination, but after hours of trying I admit defeat. I can't get it to work. Nor can I find a good documentation or posts which help.
When I enter details in the connection manager and hit enter, nothing happens except the password field becomes empty. There are no errors messages or anything.
Do I need to configure something in sharepoint?
What exactly do I putin all the required fileds?

I'm running Framemaker 10 on a Windows 7, 64-bit machine, and it crashes all the time. It used to be when I had two documents open in a book. Now, I don't open two documents but that's seriously impacting on my productivity and the product's utility - every time I check a cross-ref to another document in a book it crashes.
Today, I was just searching in the same document.
All of these documents were created with Framemaker 7.x on a 32-bit system.

Upgraded ro Frame 11 recently and now I cannot add a new document to Documentum. I get the following error.
I still have Frame 10 installed and can check in the document with it, but Frame 11 does not recognize it as a FrameMaker file.
After I insert Table>Title>Tbody into my structure and choose a Table Style, FrameMaker presents the columns and rows as selected. But, when I tab through the cells, select columns and resize, etc. - sometimes it works and sometimes FrameMaker just locks up (no keyboard or mouse control), then closes. Has anyone else seen this?
How do I install the Adobe PDF Creation Add-On printer instance in FM11? I don't recall NOT installing it, but I can't save any FM doc as a PDF. Unfortunately, the Help guide simply tells me not to delete the Adobe PDF Creation Add-On printer instance plug-in, which isn't very helpful at this point.
